[TiTS] A January Summer Patch

Fen here, and that’s no bull!

Fenoxo here, taking care of this blogpost to let Geddy catch some early zzz’s tonight. Despite the sunny, t-shirt compatible weather breezing by outside, we huddled up for our normal Wednesday meeting and put together a patch with some lovely new content, and that’s not all! Fenny Mays has a lot more in the pipeline, ready to blast into code. Personally, I’ve finally hit my stride on the Zaika gangs I’m coding for Adjatha. They’re a complicated menagerie of menace with a randomly named, randomly generated group assembled from six possible combat NPCs and introduced with one of fifteen different introductions that range from getting caught in an acid rainstorm to being offering a chance to take alien street drugs on the spot. (Protip: don’t do all the drugs.) The intros are good, most of the fight is done, and I hope my brain will be compatible with blasting through the metric tail-load of sex content so that I can deliver it in a future patch soon ™.

I know I’ve consistently overestimated my ability to get this stuff into game, but it’s finally feeling close. And the holidays are over. And the old cranium actually feels like it’s working well this week for a change. It’s actually been great practice for working through how to convert attacks that are written to only hit the PC into code that can gracefully handle striking other targets… like deployable turrets. I still have a TON of NPC encounters to page through and bring up to par if proper, deployable drones with full stat blocks are to be supported. (Coming soon to a level 12 Tech Specialist near you.)

What else? The next plot planet’s (first zone) map has been posted on Patreon… and a tiny piece will be accessible with the first random encounter very, very soon. This week soon, if all goes well. It was almost tonight-soon.

[TiTS] Dungeon Hotkeys – Coming ASAP

Hey all, Fen here with a report on our progress. TL;DR: Dhaal’s dungeon has all the pieces loaded in, coded in, and getting polished, but we’re halfway through adding inventory hotkeys for the inventory & shop UIs, and I dare not push a patch until that effort is finished. Hopefully I can patch in a day or two. Details lie below.

Ahhh the classic “snooty aristocrats and their sex-dolls” fight. Note: screenshot was taken during my work yesterday, before final stat values were set for the NPCs.

Yeah, the dungeon is basically there. This week I filled in two more combat encounters (one with four foes, the other with two), polished some of the interaction UIs and buttons, and added new support functions for a generically applicable “restrained” status effect to reduce evasion. Leek whipped up some “Lights Out” puzzles to crack into a safe, coded some bad-ends that Adj wrote last week, and helped me with snapping more of the pieces into place. They’re all there now, save for two enemy descriptions with placeholders and a player-obtainable weapon that needs its final stats set. There’s a lot to this dungeon: more rooms to explore than most, puzzles, optional fights, and a final boss that can be one of three different bosses – some of which have their fights come in multiple formats.

As you can see above, Gedan has spent the week iterating on hotkeys for the inventory, shop, and drop user interfaces. You’ll be able to navigate the highlighted section around, tab back and forth between shopkeeper inventories and your own, and even jump between categories in UIs that support it with the function keys. It might seem simple at a glance, but there is a LOT to do in order to make sure it feels good to use – like remembering what you have highlighted when you add something to a cart or droplist so that it doesn’t reset when the entire UI redraws. As a keyboard player: I am so fucking jazzed about this. Soon I’ll be able to do inventory stuff left-handed once more!

Gooooo people… goo people… slop like goo and suck like people…

Fen here, touching base to give a better appraisal of my activities. It’s been a busy month! I finally got fiber installed to my house, which means I can hopefully stream once more! No matter how much of my furgold I shoveled into my cable ISP’s furnace, I could never get consistent enough upstream bandwidth to reliably broadcast a video feed of any kind, leading to a gradual, frustration-based cessation. (Even with gigabit cable service!)

Now I’m getting ~700Mb/s upstream on my desktop in my office. 60 fps 1080p streams, here I cuuuum~!  I only had to call after missed appointments twice, and deal with a web interface that kept reporting my install date as Christmas of 2021 – you know, average ISP stuff. And it costs half as much as my old cable ‘net! Calling to tell Mediacom to fuck allllll the way off is going to be borderline orgasmic. Somebody’s gonna have to get me a mop.

As previously reported by Gedan, I’ve been working on combat routines for Dhaal’s final dungeon. The current project is a horde of morphic goo creatures that shapeshift into a variety of different existing NPCs. I’m not actually attempting to copy combat routines from those creatures, but I am accurately pulling their appearance data onto the shapeshifter and using that to drive a variety of a tease attacks based on gender and sexual equipment. Pulling that data wasn’t that hard – but I also had to figure out a way to have the goos accurately store their combat designation (Goopleganger A/B/C/D) away while shapeshifted – and re-assign it after slopping back into a blobby foe.

On top of that, I’m attempting to avoid repetitious combat text since this is a party-type combat where you will be battling 3-4 of these goopers at a time. To do that, I broke their attacks into three types: slappy, fem-teasy, and masc-teasy. The attacks are tracked in sequence. Each time a goopleganger uses one of those abilities, the game goes through the entire horde and updates the tracking data so that the next blob-chungus will know to use the next tease or slap down the list. That fight is finally getting close to ready for implementation, after which I’ll jump on the final version of the final boss fight for that dungeon. Fortunately, more HP-driven battles tend to be quicker to do, since I don’t have to conceive of horny texts for attacks.

Oh, and we’ve been slipping out some hotfixes for the last release.

Hotfixes:

  • Dropping an item should no longer crash the game. (Thanks, Geddy!)
  • Renvra pregnancy no longer eats all the movement buttons at a certain stage. (Thanks DrunkZombie for helping me track this one down!)
  • Added a toggle for the animation of scanlines in the player character outline. (Thanks, Jacques00!)
  • Art for the Diamond suit of playing cards should be added, completing the set. (Thanks, Jacques00!)
  • Fixed a softlock on Poe A (Thanks, lowercase donkey!)
  • Cocksocks should now allow you to select the penis you wish to wear one on. (Thanks, donkey!)
  • Lots of textual issues resolved. (Thanks, lowercase donkey!)
  • Pregnancy speed should be correctly displayed in the codex. (Thanks, DrunkZombie)

With the looming pain of taxes distracted by a check larger than I care to think about, I can devote my brain back to TiTSing around once more! I’ve been building up and writing the rooms for the next major plot dungeon on Dhaal, so that they can be dropped in soon ™. It’s gonna be a good one, IMO. Will has continued churning out plenty of hot smut of course, and the rest of the code team has buried plenty of treats in this patch for everyone!

Changelog:

  • THE GAME GOT HARD. I fixed a bug that caused the game to think “Easy Mode” was on all the time. There are likely to be balance changes that will need made as a result.
  • New NPC: Chance the Faux Cow!
  • New Scene: Kase and Ramis threesome! As long as the player meets Ramis’ preferences and there’s been a blurb or two with her and Kase, it’s now possible to have Kase join in. There are two unique variants to the scene depending on if the player is topping or bottoming for Ramis.
  • New Scene: Crotch worship for Lund! After submitting to Lund and becoming his bitch, the player now has a repeatable crotch worship blowjob scene. Also, Lund’s collar is now equippable at any given time like the Sub-Tuner, Sera’s, Lorelei’s, etc.
  • New Scene: Kase Nursing! A new, small scene with Kase is now available for milky momma PCs to nurse their kitty-boi. Options are available to jerk him off or let him drink himself into a nap.
  • Tweaks for Kelly! After building a relationship with Kelly, you will be able to do things like flirt with her at work. This initially leads to a teasy under table blowjob, but now with this scene you have an option of letting her take the lead.
  • New map icons: door entrance and door exit.
  • Lowercase-Donkey reworked the underpinnings of NPC bust dispays across the game.
  • Improved handling of hyperlinks under the hood and how they are displayed.
  • Improved image compression for public builds.
  • Improved error handling for attempts to move to invalid room indexes.
  • Did work under the hood for a “toasts” style achievement display system. (Good work, Ged!)
  • Plenty of other fixes and new opportunities to slip bugs in for y’all to find!

Now that the javascript version is rapidly approaching full content parity with the ol’ reliable flash builds, it’s time for everybody’s dog with a bone to finally have her crew expansion escape into the wild. I suspect that there will be a fair few bugs to shake out of this one, so be sure to hold onto a “before” save when you tackle this, just in case something blows up.

TiTS Update: Fat Tuesday

Changes:

  • Hotkey improvements! I made some modifications to the basic hotkey code in game to improve functionality in a few places:
    • The shift key can now be combined with hotkeys!
    • Up/Down hotkeys are now shift+key – avoiding conflicting with ‘z’ to masturbate.
    • The main button dock now has functional hotkeys for WASD. In the rare event that the dock is displaying something on W, A, S, or D while the movement controls are also active, the movement controls will work with a shift modifier.
    • Inventory & shop UIs have not been touched because they’re going to need some big brain to properly function with keyboard input, and them brains are working elsewhere.
  • The map exploration tutorial blurb should show up on Mhenga instead of Uveto.
  • Tetra & Mica’s busts should be more consistently displayed.
  • Fixes for several embedded images and a few other busts as well…
  • DendroGro’s multiple cock menu is no longer horribly broken.
  • Dr. Badger’s silicone tank should now be available in the masturbation menu once installed.
  • The bimbo hat from the “Kiroween” event should make you a bimbo again – and display “on equip” messages once more.
  • “Kiroween” is hooked up and accessible once more (assuming it’s Halloween or you cheated to make it so…)

[TiTS Update] Error Reporting, Fog of Whore, and Korg’ii War

Who needs to relax on a weekend when you can fix bugs and add new features?! We’ve got a spicy Monday drop that not even Garfield could hate. Maybe our code spaghetti congealed into code lasagna!

02/23/2022 BONUS Changelog:

  • Minimum lust has been converted to Minimum Lust Rating, and it now has diminishing returns the higher it gets. This eliminates a lot of janky behavior and makes it much harder to accidentally lock your lust at max.
  • Leek made some changes to how characters are loaded for combat that should result in less errors during battle.
  • Emmy’s Herm Harness’s Codex controls should work now, both in person and remotely.
  • Geddy improved how the game handles loading a save in an invalid location.
  • There’s an existing issue where character heights could become considered a string by javascript, which would result in strange addition when changing height. Ever suddenly gotten 10x taller? That’s the culprit. We’ve deployed two fixes that should try to prevent that from happening in the future…
  • The Omnisuit is now a rare item, also a lil more polish to it.
  • Undressing for the New Texas pool should be less crashy.
  • Cockvine tails now count as parasites again.
  • Backing out of Nevrie’s shop no longer displays main menu buttons.
  • Fixed a missing room description on New Texas.
  • Submitting to Lund no longer crashes.
  • The softlock that happens after submitting to Lund that was hiding behind the crash has ALSO been fixed.
  • More improvements for displayed names, courtesy of Jacques00.
  • Fixed an issue buried in the parser’s belly.

Changelog:

  • TiTS now has an error reporting system built in. By default it is disabled – there is an option to enable it in the Options screen, under Gameplay – look for Automatic Error Reporting.
    • This system is based on Sentry.io, but we’re hosting our own instance of it, and I want to explain a little bit about it in the hopes you guys will _opt_ to turn it on.
    • Firstly, we’re defaulting it to off – you, the player, has to make the decision to turn it on. There’s no popup about it, there’s no reminder or anything. Turn it on or don’t, it won’t get in your way begging for your attention either way. For all intents and purposes, this is the only time we’re going to talk about it being a thing and asking people to turn it on because we are like you – my ass always gets chapped when this kinda stuff gets forced on me so I am absolutely not gonna do the same.
    • As for turning it on, there are two modes: Auto and Prompt.
    • Auto will just send the error message straight to us as soon as it’s displayed. It can send us some extra data as well, chiefly, a record of the last couple of actions you’ve taken leading up to the crash which will allow us to more easily track down the issue.
    • Prompt simply adds an extra button to the error screen that will send the error, and only the error, to us, but only if you hit the button.
  • The exploration system has been turned on for Mhenga, Tarkus, and Myrellion. Now you can chart your own journey through the sparsely explored wilds of the galaxy, and more easily tell which places you have explored, and which you have yet to explore. Perhaps in time we can add a place for you to make a few bucks off your map data…
  • Item Rarity display is coming to TiTS! Expect to see items in your inventory have different colored icons to denote their rarity. My current labels for them are common, rare, and custom.
    • KNOWN BUG: Currently rarity information is not displayed on equipped weapons on the paperdoll. (This is fixed!)
  • Item level display has been configured for most weapons and armors in the game.
  • The battle for Korg’ii Hold is now able to be completed – at least on the test save I plowed through with it. I fixed up a bunch of broken room linkages, added staircase icons where appropriate, fixed something like 10+ different crash bugs, cleared up missing text when defeating the War Alpha, and more. There’s still one issue with encounter text being eaten – I think when Tuuva is assisting, and that’s on my agenda for today…
  • Geddy took a pass through the Codex buttons and cleaned up the whole mess of them.
  • Fixed a Mirrin softlock.
  • Fixed a Bothrioc birth codesplosion.
  • Fixes for the nursery & plenty of pregnancies.
  • Lots of under the hood changes for Roxy to address some of her bugs.
  • Lots of name displays got fixed. (By which I mean all-caps displays with “\n” or “<br>” have been formatted to fit the new display style.)
  • Many improvements to quest log display.
  • Addiction data has been moved into the medical log of your Codex.

TiTS: Frozen Cartography

New day, new patch, new features, new bugs!

(EDIT) Hotfix Changelog:

  • Fixed an error that caused the map to stop working entirely.
  • Fixed an error with Leek’s optimizations that made many puzzles (and some other content) softlock.
  • Fixed Bianca exploding the map system.
  • Azra’s mom-dom scene was ported back in.
  • Fights with multiple enemies will no longer give you multiple times the XP/credits they should.
  • Fights with multiple enemies should correctly output the list of defeated enemies.
  • Equipping heavy weapons you cannot carry should no longer crash.
  • Corrected the “Lights Out” puzzle in Azra’s Tarkus expedition to use the proper arrangement laid down in the holy Flash texts.
  • Fixed a crash with submitting to Overqueen Ysolte.
  • The Overqueen should no longer auto-grapple smugglers or athletic PC’s, as is written and intended.
  • Getting hit in the face with the Overqueen’s bolas should no longer deal lust damage, considering how painfully the text is written.
  • Pierced tongue descriptions should no longer always say “heavily pierced”. A few new small variants were added based on piercing type too (bar vs hoop).
  • Korgonne translation should be less crashy and error prone.
  • The softlock in Roxy’s doggie-style scene has been fixed.
  • A bunch of content & items that were changed in Flash after the JS port was started were updated with changes that were made in Flash. (Playing catch-up!)

  • [Backers] Uveto is now available for play in the backer build of the game! As usual, it’s going to be pretty rough around the edges. We’ll be banging on the bugs as space-time and bug reporting permits!
  • [Public] Myrellion is now explorable in the public version of the game! Don’t worry, we left the sexy bugs intact!
  • [Backers] The new experimental “exploration” system has been turned on for Uveto’s snow-fields. This is a feature I’ve wanted since the very early days of working on the game in Flash, but I lacked the skill to pull it off myself. Of course Geddy cracked it out in short order, that canny dragoness! Now rooms will fill in on your map as you explore them, and their exploration status should save. In the future we plan to bring this feature to more of the “wilds” of the game world, after shaking it down for any possible meltdowns in the snow…
    • Known Issue: Korg’ii Hold is visible before being explored.
  • The new exploration system should restore our ability to display markers for Bianca and Kattom Osgood, kaithrit businessman supreme!
  • The Omnisuit should actually be working again! This was… wayyyyy more of a headache than you would assume. The new inventory UI really did not like an item replacing itself with another item midway through the equipping process, or proccing multi-page events right in the middle. To get around this, I wound up making the collar a consumable “gadget,” which taps into the same sorts of systems driving player transformation items. Just use the collar, and presto! Your armor is an omnisuit, and any old armor is looted. Once you remove it, it will quietly transform back into a collar again for your future use.   • Donkey took a bunch of improperly formatted button prompts out behind the shed and took care of them. That’s well over 100 potential crash points absolutely shredded. The next time Gordon Ramsey calls someone an “absolute donkey,” it’s going to be a compliment.

Sinensian absolutely killed it with this art. This version with the jumper silhouettes didn’t make it in game, but I’m sure you’ll all enjoy it.

Some hangups with Leyaks are going to hold them back for a bit, but DrunkZombie delivered Sylvie’s pregnancy expansion to me today, and I sorted out a pretty nice pile of high quality art for the game. Enjoy~!
