CoC2 patched yesterday and TiTS patch today, so I’m going to let them keep first-billing in this post… this time. Click the appropriate game logo to be taken to your patch notes of choice~
Hey all! Bet you weren’t expecting more TiTS this quickly, eh? Well, Leek ripped into the Halloween content, and I have some more psyker work in the bin – even if I didn’t get to really hammer on testing yet. Reworking the snake hood into a hair type was a necessary but moderately challenging side-task that pulled me away from testing. Having scenes say “your [pc.ears] are ringing!” and talking about your snake hood felt strange, but if some head-patting mentions a hood incidentally, that’s perfect.
And… Halloween couldn’t wait. Happy pumpkin-day ya’ll!
0.9.112 Changelog
- [Backers] Expandemonium! Encounter the lovely Sauwinn in Dhaal’s Gyre! (Written by Adjatha, coded by Leek)
- [Backers] A very Verusha Halloween! To get the ball rolling on this, you’ll need to get an email from her, which will only happen if she’s on Tavros and you’ve done her home-warming event. (Coded by Leek, written by Doots)
- [Backers] Shekka now has a cow-girl scene, and no, I’m not talking about her dressing up with a wide-brimmed hat and spurs. (Coded by Leek and written by William.)
- Snake Shakes and Snake Boba got tweaked: the snake hood was moved to a hair type, though the game considers it bald. New parsers were spun up so that calls to the hair parsers result in descriptions of your hood. New text was added to the appearance page to support this as well. The ear transformation was switched to the “lizan” ear type with the transformation event cribbed from Reptilum. The old ear text was tweaked to be used as the hair->hood transformation. I paged through every mention of the word “hair” in our creature data-type (~30,000 lines long) to update anything that needed updated – checks for if hair is styleable, or alive, for example.
- You’ll likely want to drink a few more to get your head reset correctly.
- The tooltips for them were tweaked to better indicate which is for Slyveren and which is for Caessellian.
- Kineticists found their psychic connections strengthened (Fenoxo):
- Kineticist bonus critical effects now indicate the effect in a slightly different way. They are separate from “rolled” criticals and do not proc secondary effects, so this should prevent confusion. (I hope)
- For example “Critical hit!” has become “Critical cloud!” (acid cloud) or “Critical spike!” when displayed onscreen.
- Entropy Whip buffed: base damage increased from 2->20, level scaling raised from 2->3, willpower scaling raised from 1.75->2, and it now automatically mini-crits (1.5x damage) sundered targets.
- Acid Cloud buffed: base damage increased from 2->20, level scaling raised from 2->3, willpower scaling raised from 1.75->2, and it now automatically min-crits (1.5x damage) frozen targets.
- Mind Crush buffed: base damage increased from 2->30, and willpower scaling increased from 2->2.5.
- Psychic Slam buffed: base damage increased from 2->15, willpower scaling increased from 0.66->1.33.
- Gravity Crush buffed: base damage increased from 5->40, reduced level scaling from 5->3, and increased willpower scaling from 2.5->4.
- Kineticist bonus critical effects now indicate the effect in a slightly different way. They are separate from “rolled” criticals and do not proc secondary effects, so this should prevent confusion. (I hope)
- Paulette’s VR recreations of her bosses should be available in the mindwash visor now. (Leek)
- Nuka Codex added. (Leek & Fenoxo)
- Hairstyles were reworked under the hood to be more tolerant of edge cases. (lowercase donkey)
- Fixes for Suze. (Leek)
- Fixed dracow busts displaying. (lowercase donkey)
- Fixes for crew-member interactions not proccing with multiple pages of crew. (lowercase donkey)
- Improved train station menu’s button display for disabled options. (lowercase donkey)
- Add disabled button for gooArmor repair so players know they are on the right screen at least – tooltips updated so players know if a repair is needed but not yet available. (lowercase donkey)
- A pile of quick fixes. (lowercase donkey)
With Backers not getting much for a little bit, and then us dumping almost all the backer content public a patch or two back, it will take another patch before some of the new backer content hits the public side.
Thank you for your patience!
That’s not a reward for backers for but a punishment for everyone else. Good thinking!
Ah darn. I feel punished hugely for getting free content for this game I’m not paying for slightly later than usual and feeling the same content drought that backers just did. I’m so upset that Fenoxo wants to keep his game financially successful, by ensuring there’s financial incentive to pay for a copy of the game.
…What?
Don’t be a neckbeard mate
woof, that’s some hefty Kineticist Buffs. Looking forward to wiping the Floor with some enemies.
Yeah I was worried I might overtune them, and then I remembered that they’ve been suffering in high level hell a while.
If they have an easy time for a month or two, it’s not the end of the world.
The addition of extra combos (even if they’re only 1.5x instead of 2x) should make for some more flexible builds and possibilities to keep track of in a fight.
I’ve never noticed it before, but the pike weapon in the CoC II logo looks so disproportionately small. Like, it’s so tiny. This has nothing to do with anything but now that I’ve seen it, I’ll never be able to unsee it.
Because its not a Pike, its a Lucerne. Its like a warhammer but with a pick, hardened tip, and Crowfeet hammer.
Hey Fen, since you are changing a lot of stuff for Kineticists, could you also take a look at changing some useless perks and abilities from other classes like Bigger guns from mercs?
Seconded. Bigger Guns incentivizes dumping Physique on the class that most wants it. Even Ranged!
1. Sturm and Drang (Level 11 Ranged Special) requires a Melee attack to hit to get the Ranged attacks. Low Physique makes this unlikely.
To illustrate, I have a Ranged Smuggler with 0 Physique and 75 Aim. When ranged Accuracy was calculated off Physique, half of the Ranged attacks missed.
2. Mercenaries are the only class that can only use Physique to escape Grapples.
3. Headbutt (their only in-class disable) runs off Physique.
4. Second Skin incentivizes wearing Power Armor.
5. Mercs get bonus Will for high Physique.
The easiest buff is probably making Melee attacks get Accuracy from Aim with Bigger Guns.
Also:
Deep Impact Stun is Willpower, not psiWillpower.
CHANCE_APPLY_BLIND is rand(2), not rand(20) like similar effects, making it much less likely to take effect.
Even without going into all of these calculations and scenarios, you want to have every stat maxed out anyway. Even if you don’t bother to have it, there are a lot of power armors right now, there’s even an accessory that give you the flag.
Chance apply blind fixed for next patch.
The rest needs the kind of attention I’m giving Kineticists right now.
“You’ll likely want to drink a few more to get your head reset correctly.”
i really would, sadly this crashes the Game. Bug Report is on the Forum.
Not sure if my IDE is choking on itself, but my “find in files” is coming up pretty empty when I try to find chunks of that text.
I did push out a hotfix for snake shake crashes yesterday that caught some of them, so if you downloaded on patch day, a redownload might fix it for you.
yes, the hotfix fixed it. already acknowledged it in the forum report
how do I get the email to enable the snake shakes? I’ve been to Zheng Shi but I never got the email.
you sure you didn’t get it? i started a new char and just got it while walking around on Tarkus, and loading an old high-level char, i got it immidiately when i moved the first time. Also check the vending machines, might be able to just buy it without ever getting the mail.
I never got it, I’m playing a very, very old high-level character and flew between planets, still didn’t get any email. I tried the vending machines, no snake shakes either. I even used the cheat button to spawn both the shakes and the boba shakes in my inventory, but when I use them they don’t transform me in any way shape or form.
Are you playing the Backer version?
No, but hasn’t it been in the game before this backer’s patch?
Are you playing the backer build of the game?
No, but I thought the item was in the game before this backer’s patch?
Yes, but backer content generally only becomes public after a certain number of updates (or time if it’s been really long between updates, as we just saw). The changelog lists what has become public in a given update.
Snake Shake will likely become public around late November, early December.
These buffs are really nice. And I’m especially happy about the buffs that useless skills like Cloud and Whip get. True, now I’ll have to start the game again again, because now it turns out that I have the wrong build… Well, oh well, let’s wait for future updates and see which build will be the best for me.
If you enable the Cheat Menu (check the Wiki for instructions), you can refund your Perks in the Level Up menu.
i don’t get all the Acid Cloud hate. I’m on my fourth kineticist now, and i’ve alweays skilled it, because it’s a great combo with Mind Crush. Entropic Leech to freeze an enemy, Mind Crush to trigger the freeze and Stun, then Acid Cloud Auto-Crit for the kill.
Aww, and I went out of my way to avoid weakening anything or removing existing functionality in hopes people wouldn’t feel like they need a respec.
Dear CoC 2 devs,
Do please add already Leomax’ haircuts and youngpupa’s TF’s. Its been at very least more than a year and the queue is still not moving? Eeesh.
Thank you!
Thanks for patch Fen. Hope you and family are getting better. Have a great spooky Halloween.
Anybody else wish we’d get more Carver content? I think about it like once I year but it would be cool.
Aghhhhh we only get to encounter Sauwinn one time ? because i really like her wish i had more….sex options with her and my PC. She’s so fun 😀 and i love her personality <3
Glad you like her! She’s a high encounter on Halloween, and a low encounter on Dhaal any other time of the year (but not totally turned off, because Dhaal is always dusk and she doesn’t own a calendar)
:3
Please fix the weapon pass bug, I’m softlocked in Tessa’s questline. Having the weapon pass is supposed to allow you to pass the security desk with your weapons, but, as numerous forum posts have pointed out, an intended bug fix has made it impossible to do so instead.
So, you fixed the Rats Raiders fight, now what about the Zaika Gangers? That fight can have the same problem of just getting chain-stunned for half a dozen rounds…
Actually, wouldn’t it be good to just eliminate this problem for every fight, instead of cleaning up every special instance? Just give Characters 1 turn of Stun immunity after recovering from a Stun, problem fixed, both for all current stuff as well as future fights.
And while you’re busy balancing the Kineticist, you might want to take a look at the kineticist staves, specifically the ones with proc effects (sleetstaff and hookstaff). The Proc Chance on those effects is so incredibly low as to be functionally non-existent. If you think the proc is too powerful to give it a higher proc-chance, i’d almost prefer you remove it entirely and replace it with something that is useful more often or just a different passive. A proc that only happens once every 20 fights or so is simply useless.
The procs for X Chance flags is based on Physique or Aim, depending on if the weapon is Melee or Ranged. They’re actually very reliable with high Physique/Aim. The issue here is probably that you took Third Eye Aim and dumped the stat. While Third Eye Aim substitutes Intelligence for damage and Accuracy, it doesn’t substitute for the Chance flags.
You also have to be doing HP damage, so they don’t work on things with active Shields or armor.
