I couldn’t sleep a full eight hours, and I couldn’t handle how much swallowing hurt, so I spent the afternoon waiting in line at a clinic to get some antibiotics. Now I’ve got a Z-Pak and am hopefully on the path to recovery. I damned well better be after how miserable I was this morning.

I just hope Fen’s got a real cause to use a Z-pak. Like a sore throat from a strep infection.
Antibiotics should never be used for viral infections, (I.e. cold and flu) but *may* be used if you have a secondary bacterial infection riding behind your cold… Like pneumonia.
No matter how lousy you feel with the cold or flu running, nay; rampaging through your body – you will get better without the use of antibiotics.
Rampant, frivolous use/prescription of antibiotics is leading to less cures. Old, once manageable diseases are making a comeback too. Breeds of new super bugs totally resistant to antibiotics are becoming a reality along with the fact that we are running out of meds in our arsenals to combat them.
This is the sort of thing that keeps me awake at night… <..>

I remember having strep throat, was linked from my throat to my left ear, I sounded like a vietnam veteran that drank 4 tall glasses of moonshine, and the pain to swallow was ridiculous, hope you get better

Oh yeah, I remember having that nasty little bug. If it goes anything like when I had it, you’ll have a lingering cough for about 2 months afterward.
Which is still better than having to avoid any form of chips so as to not experience what it’s like to swallow razor blades.
