Having a really patch of days. I want to get some stuff happening tomorrow, but I’m not promising anything. I’ve got an ISP tech coming out tomorrow to try to deal with some of the issues that popped up while I was gone for a week. Prediction: he fixes nothing. Also, every smoke alarm in my apartment ran out of battery and wouldn’t stop beeping… and I didn’t have any 9-volts.
I’ve also got to drive to two or three different places to pick up mail that couldn’t be left at my apartment complex’s office, apparently. FML.

Fen-fen sounds like a Cumcast subscriber. I fought my local cable ISP for two months, billed… Double billed on tech visits that accomplished nothing. I fought the billing. Got in touch with corporate. Got a hold of a special ops team members’ private digits. All got fixed in two days flat. Never a hiccup since. Don’t see that contract home service tech anymore. I also got the private cells of local market in house business techs with the invitation to call them 24-7 if my service so much as looks at me cross eyed. They monitor my house line like it was a business class service and resolve things fast before I ask, even proactively repairing the service.
Just got to stick to your find and exhaust the local market resources, contest the billing and someone will get it fixed…Eventually. Good luck! And happy nude deer. ;>

It’s okay to be Takei… but everything has it limits. Especially when it’s becoming a requirement for advertisement that is heavily crammed into whatever media you encounter without giving a sh//t about YOUR freedom of opinion. Or that you have different culture, live on different continent and so on. Even homosexuals are already fed up with those “advertpseudofags” by now.
How is there something wrong with having a gay character in a large cast of characters?
They need representation to begin with. As long as it’s still socially acceptable to look down on them, they’re not going to be treated the same as everyone else. I think it’s pretty fucked up but the way to change that is with media presence in this day and age until the concept normalizes and the diehard haters are the new minority in society. Which, frankly, they should be. We don’t move forward if the people we cater to are the ones stuck in the mistaken views of the past.
Some people get upset when a character’s revealed to be gay because they believe that the decision to have that character be gay was a marketing strategy to have them appeal more to the LGBT community. It’s more that those people are upset at (what they perceive is) the intent behind the decision to have that character be gay than the decision itself. It’s like the difference between getting a gift from someone and getting a gift from someone who only gives it to you because they believe it’ll help them as well.
but issent like 10% bi or homo? so having 1 out of 23 is quite ok. if you just did a rng on 10% the outcomes could be that no one is homo or that everyone is homo, so if there is 0 or 10 who cares its statistically correct, although i get what people mean, imo having a gay character rather then a lesbian one would be better just because most homos in moves are always lesbian so it gets kinda annoying and would feel less like a marketing decision.

If you want to make it not annoying, you don’t make them the first character with relationship showed, not the character who doesn’t have any story arc(like Winston with his “father” and moon colony or Mercy/Reaper/Soldier 76 ongoing plot with dozens of theories of what all those hints mean) or characterisation beyound that going for them and certainly you don’t make it look as what you did just for advertisement. You go subtle with it.
In other words, for good example look at Bioware, who’re infamous for it with the worst example being their shuttle pilot from ME3. And now compare their previous examples to Dorian from Inquisition, who’s strickly gay, is an interesting character and his personal life isn’t focused on your character only. Sera was also great because people loved(or hated. I really hate her attitude) her for reasons beyond her tastes.

Last time my fire alarms died I pulled them off the ceiling pulled the batteries out and threw them in my safe . They stopped beeping after awhile.
Gave me time to get new batteries the next day.
